Different environments or new animals are usually the main reasons for intimidation. There are many medical reasons that can irritate your dog and make them uncomfortable and lead to growling. Some of these medical conditions can be allergies, hormonal imbalance and neurophysiologic functions.

One thing to remember is that though we should always let a dog know that they should not growl, it is also important to not punish them for doing so. Though discipline may temporarily stop your dog from growling, it can also lead to future worse issues such as snapping and biting.
