Do not show the dog any attention at all while doing this. Do not even male eye contact. Any sign of attention will let your pet know that he has gotten your attention and will not improve his behavior.

Changing the focus of attention is also a very good tip in training your dog from jumping. By giving your dog the sit command, you have changed the focus of attention and reminded the dog that you are still the superior figure in the relationship.

There are some people that employ the use of a pinch collar. These collars can be effective. They work by using them with a short leash.
