How to Stop a Rottweiler Whining Excessively

If you have ever seen a Rottweiler chances are you have wanted one, they are beautiful stocky built dogs with a lot to offer. Once you get the little guy home, however you may find that your furry bundle of joy has turned into a constant whining machine, especially at night! Just like many other sounds your dogs make, whining is a communication tool. Dogs generally whine when they are scared, hurt or ill and it is your job to determine which is at fault to figure out how to stop a Rottweiler whining.

Figuring out if your dog is ill is probably the easiest way to stop a Rottweiler whining. When dogs are sick they will commonly display other symptoms as well. If you notice your dog refusing to eat, vomiting, diarrhea, or listlessness it is time to go to the vet and the whining is likely because they are ill. Once they are hale and healthy, again you may find your whining problems are non-existent.

Separation Anxiety

Many times your dog will whine when you leave the house because of separation anxiety. This is a reaction similar to what you see in small children and like kids; you will have to work on the problem slowly. Begin by getting them comfortable in the area you plan on leaving them in while you are gone, you can put their favorite blanket or toy in the room and spend some time with them. Then leave the room for a few minutes, your dog will probably begin to whine as soon as you leave the area, but do not respond allow them to whine for a short period of time before you return. This teaches them to that they will be okay while you are away and that you will not bow to emotional blackmail.

A Rottweiler puppy will often whine just to get your attention and this may be one of the harder habits to break but with a little patience and some training tips, you can stop a Rottweiler whining. The first thing you need to do is make sure you are spending time with your dog, take them for walks or play fetch anything that allows them to bond with you. The hardest part of stopping them from whining is ignoring the whine for attention. If ignoring the situation does not seem to help then you should begin instructing your dog to stop, and in extreme situations, a spray bottle of water will reinforce your command.

Dogs whine for a variety of reasons, figure out the reason behind your dog’s behavior and you will be ahead of the game so to speak. In some cases a Rottweiler’s whining will be attached to the way they were treated by a previous owner, if they were severely neglected or abused you will need to exert even more patience with them.
